Inspirational Photographs

"Three Generations in a 4" x 6"

This picture was taken by my grandfather, when my younger sister was born.  There's something about this picture that really gets me, i'm not sure if its the lighting, or if its my grandmother holding the two of us..but its one of my favorites.  I like that my grandpa just grabbed a camera, and was able to capture this moment.
"A Sacred Space, Above the Timberline"

I took this picture of my friend, Alex, this summer near Burlington, VT.  This picture truly inspires me.  We took a roadtrip up to Vermont towards the end of the summer, and it was one of our last times together before we headed back to school.  I didn't understand the greatness behind this particular hiking trail until we got to the summit.  It was a very difficult hike, a steep incline for almost 2 hours, and although she promised it would be worth it, it didn't seem like it at that time.  Once I felt the wind pick up, and the temperature drop about 15 degrees, I finally got what she had been trying to describe.  Panting by the time I got to the top, I snapped this picture as she looked out.  Capturing her in this setting, her true habitat..doing what she loves, inspired me.  I hope thats the feeling that is evoked from this photograph.
Sailing and storms are two things that come hand in hand.  I love to watch storms roll in, especially on the water.  This picture with the ominous black clouds makes the sailboat look like a toy.

  1. I love this picture, it is rear for me to see the sea lighter then the sky! Like if you made this into a horizontal picture by cutting off where the clouds are light, it looks like it's unversed. It looks like you changed the water's color in Photoshop! I love it because I feel like I can feel the cold wet air blowing through the warm summer air... ugh Beautiful shot!
